The Zutons - What's Your Problem

The Zutons are an Indie-Rock band from Liverpool and this is the very simple video for their song "Whats Your Problem". The video is a mixture of illustration and disjuncture, the song is about a guy fighting with his girlfriend and the video follows on from this by showing several
 pairs of people arguing. Then in complete disjuncture they are all pelted with water balloons from an invisible source. The entire video is shot in slow motion, making the arguing people look comical and showing the balloons burst in detail. 


The video is so simple and entropic that it really follows none of Goodwin's features. Normally rock songs like this have a fast paced, energetic video with short takes and lots of jump cutting but instead this video juxtaposes the slow video with the faster music. This video has none of the characteristics of rock videos, there is no performance element and the band are not even shown. There are also none of Goodwin's notions of looking or intertextual references. The band is represented by Deltasonic, an independent label who have allowed the video to be less branded.

The video is quite similar to many viral videos that include pranks and slow motion and because it is simple, unusual and enjoyable people are likely to share it with friends, more likely than a redundant performance video.
